What this site is
Shelter Tactics is a research-desk publication about survival gear and field skills. We compare equipment on published specifications, current prices, and the pattern of what verified buyers report after real use — and we teach the skills that make the gear worth owning.
What we are not
We do not pretend to torture-test every product in the woods, and we do not sell inventory. When a maker or a hundred owners have tested something, we say whose test it was. When nobody has, we say that too. Read How We Rate for the exact scorecard.
Family
Our sister site is Truly Preserved, which covers food storage, water filtration, and freeze drying with the same scorecard and the same rules. If it keeps a family fed, it’s over there. If it gets carried, worn, lit, or sheltered under, it’s here.
How we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links — if you buy through one, the seller pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you. That is the whole business model, and it never changes a score. Full details: Affiliate Disclosure.
